Dear colleagues,

This summer an extremely ambitious programme related to Canada is taking place in Brno. In the course of the month of July, a total of 31 (yes – THIRTY-ONE!!!!) Canadian authors will appear here to read from their works, one each day in the evening at 6 pm. They include both Anglophone and Francophone writers, writers from ethnic minorities, some from the Native community. Many are very well known – for example, Lee Maracle, George Elliott Clarke, Nicole Brossard, Eden Robinson, Francois Barcelo, Sharon Butala, Madeleine Gagnon, Aritha van Herk, etc. etc.  This an amazing and a unique opportunity for all Canadianists. We hope many people from outside Brno, and even outside the Czech Republic, will come to hear these writers.

Information on the programme can be found at www.autorskecteni.cz – unfortunately mainly in Czech, but the dates when the various authors will be here are clear.

Hope to see some of you here in Brno,

Don Sparling, Petr Vurm, Petr Kylousek, Katerina Prajznerova, and many others.
